Requesting a Transcript
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) requires that all transcript requests received by mail or fax be signed and dated by the person to whom the record belongs. Telephone requests CANNOT be accepted. There is a limit of ten transcripts per request.
University policy prohibits issuing transcripts (official or unofficial) to any student indebted to the University. The issuance of partial transcripts is also prohibited.
You can request an official transcript using the methods listed below unless you have a hold on your account.
eTranscript-secure, fast electronic delivery
The University of Maine has collaborated with the National Student Clearing House to provide secure delivery of official transcripts for a minimal fee, which must be paid by a credit card.
- Transcripts can be sent electronically. When ordering an electronic transcript you will need the email address of the recipient and know that this email address can receive electronic transcripts. There is a $4.00 fee for this service and the recipient will normally receive the transcript within 8 hours from the time of submission.
- By regular US Mail and by express/priority US Mail. There is a $2.25 fee to send the transcript regular mail and the transcript will normally be sent within three business days. Additionally, there is an option to send express mail for an additional fee that will be displayed at the time of ordering and the transcript will be processed within one business day.

Request Official Transcript through Mainestreet Student Center
Students who have attended the University of Maine within the last five years may request an official transcript through the Student Center in MaineStreet:
- Login to Mainestreet
- Select Self-Service
- Select Student Center
- Select Transcript : Request Official” in the “other academic…” drop down box shown under the “Academics” area.
This is the preferred method, and most efficient way, of requesting an official transcript. Requesting an official transcript through MaineStreet is convenient and allows the student to view the status and details of the request.
Transcripts requested through Mainestreet will normally be processed within three business day.
Request in Person
Transcripts may be requested in person by visiting the Office of Student Records during office hours, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, and presenting photo identification.
Current students may obtain an unofficial transcript through the Student Center in MaineStreet by selecting “Transcript: View Unofficial” in the “other academic…” drop down box shown under the “Academics” area. Unofficial transcripts may also be requested in person by visiting the Office of Student Records during office hours, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm and presenting photo identification.
