Final Exam Schedule

Printable Final Exams Schedule (PDF) Printable

Fall Final Exams - December 14 - 18, 2009

  • Faculty and students can see their final exam schedule in MaineStreet.

  • Faculty should log into their Faculty Center and select View My Weekly Schedule. Go to Show week of 12/20/2009 - this is the week ending date.

  • Students will be able to see their final exam schedule by logging into MaineStreet and navigating to Student Self-Service > Student Center. Under the Academics section, select Exam Schedule from the "other academic..." drop-down menu. Click the "Go" button. Exam Schedule
Then click the radio button of the current term and click the "Continue" button .

  • Not all sections of courses have Final Examinations. Courses that meet in the evening (after 4:00 p.m.) may not necessarily follow the final examination schedule. Please check your course schedule on MaineStreet if you are unsure of the section you are registered for. If your section is not listed and you have a question about this, check with your instructor.
  • Classes requiring group exams (MAT, BIO etc.), and classes that do not meet at standard class times will be assigned to the 5:30 p.m. (Block and Special) exam period.  These exams will not be announced until early in the semester in which they are to be given.

  • Please keep in mind that any plans based on this schedule should be tentative.  Course day/times may change or courses may require special facilities-all of which might affect the exam time.

Examinations

During each semester two to four preliminary examinations are usually administered in every course. These "prelims" count heavily in the final grade. The final week of classes should be free of all types of exams whatsoever. Instructors may schedule exams during this period only with the express permission of the appropriate associate dean or program director.

At the end of each semester some courses hold comprehensive final examinations. These "finals" normally count for no more than one-third of the course grade, but instructors can weight them more heavily with the approval of the chairperson of the department offering the course.

The Office of Student Records schedules final examinations and publishes the exam schedule. Final examinations can be given only on the published date and time. Students scheduled for four or more final examinations on the same day may contact the Office of Student Records to have an examination rescheduled. Students who miss the scheduled final examination must contact the instructor to make arrangements to take the exam. Only truly extraordinary circumstances beyond a student's control will be sufficient reason for an instructor to allow a student to make up a missed final exam.

Athletic Events during Final Examination Period

The University of Maine will not schedule athletic events during final examination periods in December and May. The President, in consultation with the Provost, determines whether or not athletic teams will participate in post-season tournaments during final examination week.
